Frequently Asked Questions
It’s completely natural to have questions before starting therapy.
Over time, I have collected some of the typical questions I receive and provided the responses here. I hope these answers help you feel more at ease in the process.

I have been trained in various modalities and theories, and I enjoy curating a combination of therapy approaches to each client depending on what I feel would work best for each individual’s current issues.
For trauma work, I especially like to utilize Accelerated Resolution Therapy. Some of the theories and modalities I like to incorporate into on-going therapy work include (but not limited to) somatic work, interpersonal neurobiology, attachment theory, systems theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, exposure and response prevention, acceptance and commitment therapy, psychoeducation and a whole lot of practical real world sprinkling in to what feels attainable in a moment in theory vs application.

ART is evidence-based to resolve a trauma within 1-3 sessions (often 1 session!)
Great for those overwhelmed/stressed and maxed for time
Great for those struggling to enter into and sit in the trauma
You don’t have to verbalize the trauma or say exactly what the trauma was/is. We can target the trauma without re-telling what specifically happened to you, and it still works. This can be powerful for those who have not been able or wanting to say out loud what happened to them.
This can be a “one and done” type of therapy. You don’t need to have established a working relationship with me prior to beginning ART, and you don’t need to continue work beyond either. This trauma therapy can be an adjunct to your on-going therapy with another provider.

Often people are uncertain what to expect or how the consultation calls go. I prefer to do video consultations because that gives you a better sense of what it is like to do virtual therapy with me. There does not need to be any particular agenda, the consultation is purely for you to get a feel for what it is like to meet with me over video and get a sense of if I feel like a safe person for you. There are many therapy tools, theories and techniques, but truly the most effective part of therapy is having a strong relationship with your therapist. However this is also the time to ask any questions you may have about my approach or what to expect in the therapy process. Typically calls are around 15-30 minutes, and I leave the meeting asking the client to think it over and to reach out if they want to move forward thereafter. ription

An individual and couple’s session is $225 for 55 minutes.
For extended sessions of 90 minutes, the fee is $300.
For those who want to utilize their PPO insurance, I can provide a superbill that you can apply your out of network benefits towards

These sessions can be more intensive, take approximately 2 hours, and I charge $300 per session. This includes an intake and consultation about what to expect prior to the ART session so that once we are in our ART session we can hit the ground running.

I accept credit cards and FSA/HSA cards due on the date of service.

I have moved away from being in-network with most insurance companies. However, I am able to provide a superbill that can reimburse you for most of the cost of therapy if you have a PPO insurance plan (using your out of network benefits!). I directly provided superbills for clients that submit them on their own to get reimbursed from their insurance, or there is a company Thrizer that will submit it for you and calculate your out of network benefits.

I do reserve a portion of my sessions to offer sliding scale options based on individual need. Please contact me directly to see if I have capacity to offer this for you.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

I utilize a HIPAA compliant email and business cell phone to mitigate as much risk as possible to keeping your protected health information secure. Emails, voicemails and texting are not immediate response or crisis lines.
For any emergency, you should always call 911.
I check my emails and cell phone during business hours (M-F, 8am - 4pm) in between client sessions and sometimes it may not be seen the same day. Please note that when you text me, you are opting into receiving a text response back to me. If you ever want to stop receiving texts from me at any time, you may text me a message with “Stop” and I will refrain from texting you further, and you can also communicate over email your preferred method of communication.
In my role as a therapist, I am unable to accept any personal social media requests or follow any client on their social media accounts, and will not accept any messages regarding your therapeutic process over social media communication forums (DM, chats, messages, etc).
